Our History
Founded in 1998, Malahka began as a small group of concerned citizens united by a common goal: to safeguard our neighborhood from rising incidents of crime and disorder. Named after the Aramaic word for "angel," Malahka embodies the spirit of guardianship and vigilance.
Our journey started with a community event aimed at fostering stronger ties among residents and promoting collective action. Inspired by the success of that event, we officially established Malahka as a neighborhood watch group. Over the years, our efforts have expanded to cover the area around Gloria Molina Grand Park and its surrounding neighborhoods.
Through persistent dedication and the support of our community, Malahka has grown into a respected organization known for its effectiveness and reliability. Our history is one of resilience, collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to the safety of Downtown Los Angeles.
